Annual Dental and Medical Camp

In late 2011 the Chokgyur Lingpa Foundation held  it's annual Dental and Medical Camp in Pokhara, Nepal. As in previous years the team of doctors and volunteers were met with many local people who needed and appreciated their efforts.  Less than one days travel outside Kathmandu live many people without the possibility of recieving any medical care.  The visit by our group of volunteers provides people not only with medical treatment but also the security that there are people out there who are thinking of their wellbeing.  The patients, doctors and volunteers also had a wonderful time together in the cold weather.

We are growing!

The Chokgyur Lingpa Foundation is pleased to announce that our activities are growing. We welcomed two new young monks in September and three more monks in November in the Riwoche monastery in Tinchuli, Nepal. With the new additions, we have twenty-five young monks in that monastery. See our Gallery for the profile of the new monks.

For the Tibetan Medicine Training program, this is as part of our Foundation’s ongoing efforts to enable communities to access affordable, effective healthcare, improving their overall standard of living. Read more about our program and how you can help the students.

   

Albukhary International University

This year, we were again fortunate enough to have the chance to help select students from Nepal, India, and Bhutan for Albukhary International University. Albukhary International University is a new university in Malaysia that is dedicated to sponsoring the studies of students from the poorest countries in the world with the aim that after finishing their studies they will then to return to their countries fully equipped to serve their fellow citizens by sharing their knowledge and helping to improve the conditions there. Seven students from Nepal, three from India, and three from Bhutan were admitted in 2011's September intake. They were overwhelmed by the size and grandeur of the university when they first arrived, but are now happily settled in. For the next few months they’ll be working hard to improve their English language skills during the Foundation Studies programme before beginning their Bachelor studies next year. We’ve already begun the search for candidates for 2012 and we hope to be able to submit candidates from Bangladesh as well.

   

17 to 23 March 2012 : Pratyekabuddhayana, Nepal

We are pleased to announce that in March 2012, Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche will continue his series of teachings on the Nine Yanas in Nepal by holding a week-long programme on the Pratyekabuddhayana, the vehicle of self-realised buddhas. The first yana, the Shravakayana, was taught in January, 2011.
